A development agreement can be concluded after a contract duration of two years. Pursuant to WU’s Personnel Development Plan, this position can only be fixed-term for up to six years. Once all objectives agreed upon in the development agreement have been fulfilled, the employment relationship can be made permanent.
Are you passionate about digital marketing and social media, and eager to explore data-driven research using quantitative methods such as optimization and big data? This position offers the chance to work on real-time bidding, gaming and streaming, and digital ad simulations - while gaining teaching experience and developing academic career.
What to expect
- Independent and collaborative research in digital marketing and social media
- Focus on cutting-edge topics such as real-time bidding and gaming/streaming
- Publications in leading journals in marketing
- Teaching responsibilities in undergraduate and master’s programs (e.g., Marketing Analytics)
- Active contribution to academic life through institute activities and program development
- Work with large-scale data using quantitative and computational methods
What you have to offer
- Ph.D. in Marketing with a background in a quantitative field (e.g., operations research, industrial engineering)
- Research experience in key areas such as real-time bidding (e.g., budget pacing and targeting), live streaming (e.g., charity stream effectiveness), and digital ad simulations
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or R, especially for optimization and simulation
- Solid background in mathematical modeling including mixed-integer programming and the use of linear or non-linear solvers
- High potential for academic publication in leading international marketing journals
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
- Experience in teaching quantitative marketing topics. Especially Marketing Analytics is a plus
- Familiarity with automated data collection (e.g., APIs) is an additional asset
- Motivated and collaborative mindset with a readiness to take responsibility
- Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are prepared to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €4,932.90 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
