Together with our destination experts, our sales and account management teams generate business by partnering with our customers (Tour Operators, Travel Agencies) to shape exciting itineraries suited to their traveler’s needs. We take care of everything from ground support, hotel bookings, sightseeing, restaurants, and local guides; all while providing 24/7 customer support so that travelers from over 50 countries can enjoy memorable travel experiences worry free.
About the Role
As Operations Manager Austria, based in Vienna, you will lead our destination operations to ensure seamless delivery of tours and services across the country. You will oversee supplier relationships, manage a dedicated team, and drive operational excellence—balancing quality, efficiency, and profitability while shaping memorable travel experiences with Kuoni Tumlare.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, oversee, and coordinate land services across Austria—guides, transport, restaurants, and special requests—ensuring budget adherence and operational smoothness.
Prepare and confirm both series and ad-hoc tour itineraries in collaboration with sales, balancing client requirements (mainly from Asia), destination specifics, supplier conditions, and revenue targets.
Maintain robust supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, capacity, and service quality—react promptly to emergencies or last-minute changes.
Define and monitor performance metrics for operational quality and revenue, reporting team results to management and identifying areas for improvement.
Allocate workflow effectively across the team of 5+ FTE, ensuring deadlines, service standards, and company policies are met.
Mentor, train, and support the team—foster development, ensure onboarding, and encourage continuous learning.
Collaborate with Sales Operations and Procurement to control costs, analyze operational performance, and implement efficiency improvements.
Requirements
To Succeed in this role, you should have:
Fluency in English and German is required.
Strong familiarity with Austrian geography and touristic offerings.
10+ years’ experience in DMC, incoming travel operations, or ground handling.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and multi-tasking capabilities.
Strong communicator with leadership, negotiation, and team development skills.
Comfortable working under pressure, highly data-driven, and revenue-conscious mindset.
Proactive, flexible, and able to operate independently as well as in tandem with broader teams.
