In this role, you will lead development projects with critical portfolio impact that shape the future of our pipeline. As project owner, you will provide end-to-end leadership, ensuring clarity in direction, timely risk mitigation, and data-driven decision-making. Your insights and recommendations will directly influence Product Development strategy and engage senior executive stakeholders, making this role central to delivering on Sandoz’s bold ambitions.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide matrix and situational leadership to cross-functional teams of subject matter experts, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Define and execute product development strategies in alignment with portfolio objectives.
- Serve as project champion , driving the execution and delivery of critical milestones and ensuring alignment with overall project and platform goals.
- Proactively identify and continuously manage project risks , addressing both threats and opportunities to safeguard and enhance project outcomes.
- Lead scenario planning by evaluating potential impacts of risks on timelines and budgets, enabling informed decision-making.
- Develop, challenge, and maintain project schedules in close collaboration with the team; apply critical path analysis to monitor progress and adjust as needed.
- Establish, monitor, and control project budgets – covering both direct and indirect costs – demonstrating strong financial acumen and ensuring transparency, accountability, and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Promote enterprise thinking when allocating resources and planning budgets, ensuring optimal use of organizational capabilities
What you’ll bring to the role:
Essential Requirements:
- Fluent in English – both written and spoken, with strong communication skills across diverse audiences.
- Advanced scientific degree – in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Extensive experience – over 5 years in Product Development/R&D and more than 10 years in Project Management, with a consistent focus on execution excellence.
- Comprehensive understanding of R&D – within the broader ecosystem of Generic Pharmaceutical companies, including IP, regulatory, QA, legal, production and commercial interfaces.
- Proven track record – in leading and managing complex R&D projects, including the development and execution of efficient product strategies, cost/timeline/risk oversight, and ensuring data integrity and documentation quality.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills – with a demonstrated ability to collaborate, influence, and drive decisions in a cross-functional, matrixed environment.
- Executive leadership presence – with the ability to present effectively and engage with senior management and external stakeholders.

For Austria: In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is EUR 85.704,64/year (on a full-time basis).
The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.
