Senior Research Ethics Officer
The Ethics & Biosafety group covers a broad range of ethics topics and provides support related to IMBA’s and IMP’s human and animal research ethics and biosafety compliance applications. Our aim is to continuously develop, implement, and monitor ethical standards in research and to promote awareness for upholding ethical standards and regulatory requirements in science.
In this role you will be responsible for
- Ensuring ethical oversights in research with cells, tissues, animals and biosafety to ensure responsible, safe and inconsistent conduct.
- Managing and handling the collection and submission of necessary reports.
- Providing administrative support to IMBA’s and IMP’s research ethics committees.
- Contributing to the enhancement of ethics processes.
- Promoting awareness for the importance of ethical standards and codes of conduct throughout the institution.
- Organization of internal workshops, outreach and training activities, including guidance on ethical matters.
Your profile:
- PhD in biology or related fields and experience in ethics, animal research, compliance, research service and administration.
- Demonstrated work ethic, high standards of research and personal integrity is a must.
- Research-orientated mindset, interested in supporting colleagues.
- Effective in communicating with researchers to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines.
- Working collaboratively as part of a team, sharing information and ideas.
- Commitment to the highest international academic standards of responsible conduct in research.
- Excellent German and English communication skills (written and oral) and
- IT skills (Microsoft Office, SharePoint, databases and workflow applications, Jira/Confluence etc.) are required.
