The role
As the Team Lead of our API & Services team, you will not only be responsible for developing and delivering robust software solutions but also for leading and mentoring a talented & motivated team. Your role will be pivotal in driving the technical direction of the team, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of performance and scalability.
You will have the unique opportunity to shape UBIMET's technology strategy, playing a critical role in building software products that transform meteorological and geospatial data into compelling customer solutions.
Your main responsibilities
Lead & Mentor: Guide, support, and develop the backend team, fostering collaboration, ownership, and technical excellence.
Plan & Organize: Oversee release planning, task allocation, effort estimation, and overall team coordination.
Transform Data into Products: Lead the transformation of complex meteorological and geospatial data into innovative, user-friendly products (e.g., Ubi Connect – our weather data API).
Design Scalable Solutions: Architect and deliver scalable, maintainable services and APIs that provide weather data to a global audience, while continuously improving the efficient backbone components behind our products. Ensure all solutions are built with sustainability, high performance, and long-term scalability in mind to support UBIMET’s entire portfolio.
Hands-on Development: Contribute directly to the codebase using Python, Flask, Django, PostgreSQL, and Memcached to build robust backend systems.
Drive Innovation: Identify, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies – including AI-powered process automation – to enhance performance and efficiency.

Proven experience in leading and developing software engineering teams.
A passion for solving technical problems with an analytical mind.
Hands-on experience in building large, complex system architectures.
Strong Python skills and experience with Linux.
The ability to work effectively in a team environment and a willingness to learn.
Experience in working with geospatial data is a plus.
Fluency in English; German skills are a plus.

For legal reasons, we would like to point out that the minimum salary for this position is approximately EUR 55.000,00 gross per year. Depending on qualifications and experience, a significant overpayment is possible, with an expected range of EUR 65.000,00 to EUR 75.000,00 for this role.
