The internship position is located in the Office of the Chief, Human Resources Management Service (HRMS), Division for Management (DM), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV)/United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and envisaged for a period of 6 months with a starting date as soon as possible.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time; i.e. 5 days per week (40 hours). The selected intern will work under the supervision of the Chief, HRMS.

Responsibilities •Assists in the electronic dissemination of information; prepares, maintains and updates HRMS' web pages, including graphics and photo/video editing
  • Identifies, collates and prepares new materials for inclusion on the website by: researching various information sources and cross-checking information with author offices as required
  • Posts documents on the HRMS website; sets up and updates indexes of documents and ensures the appropriate directory location, etc.
  • Liaises and interacts with colleagues and third parties both internally and externally
  • Supports HRMS in the design and layout of outreach, promotion and information material, for example, in the form of power point presentations, promotion videos, flyers and infographics
  • Assists in the design, compilation and research of content, editing and posting of the monthly electronic HRMS Newsletter
  • Other functions as required.

Education To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined above) (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION);

  • Be computer literate in standard software applications;

  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and

  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the positions advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

United Nations Considerations

According to article 101, paragraph 3, of the Charter of the United Nations, the paramount consideration in the employment of the staff is the necessity of securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity.
