Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia but Austria is home to part of our European operations. And you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.
Fun fact, a big part of our Austrian operations is developing the AI product within Canva to help reimagine how artificial intelligence can be used in design. Pretty cool ha!
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Labelling, annotating, and generating text, elements, and design templates within a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, in accordance with internal labelling guidelines.
- Conducting quality checks on both internal labellers and labelling contractors' output to ensure compliance with Canva's standards.
- Assisting in contractor management-related tasks, including hiring, onboarding, and offboarding.
- Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of Canva's high-quality label standards.
- Monitoring and reporting trends in quality assurance and labelling to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborating with the Data Labelling EU and PH Team to implement projects aimed at improving labelling processes, guidelines, and tools.
You're probably a match if
- You are based in Austria or able to relocate to Vienna without company assistance
- You have hands-on experience using AI in your work to drive greater impact
- You have basic knowledge of data annotation
- You bring experience as a multimedia designer with a strong portfolio showcasing a deep understanding of visual communication fundamentals
- You have exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail
- You can showcase the ability to quickly adapt and learn in a dynamic environment
- You possess excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- You thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting
About the team
Canva's Generative AI Platform Group is responsible for the delivery of capabilities which empower transformational ML and AI initiatives, from early ideation and prototyping, through to scaling to meet the needs of millions of Canva users in production. We empower thousands of engineers and product managers to deliver amazing product features which harness the power of cutting-edge technologies.
Data Labelling EU is a key team within this subgroup, currently comprising three in-house members based in Vienna. Our goal is to effectively mobilize our data labellers, leveraging the team's strengths to efficiently address customer requests while maintaining high quality standards.

We make hiring decisions based on your skills, experience and our overall assessment of what we observed and learnt in the hiring process. The starting salary for this position is EUR 45,000. When calculating offers, we make salary decisions based on market data and candidates' skills and experience.
