Responsibilities
The Global ESG Risk Manager will lead the strategic integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives and risk management frameworks into Valneva's global supply chain operations. This role ensures alignment with corporate sustainability targets, drives risk mitigation strategies, and fosters cross-functional collaboration to enhance procurement processes and sustainability reporting.
- Develop and implement a supplier code of conduct requiring carbon disclosure (CDP) and renewable energy adoption.
- Collaborate with Tier 1 suppliers to create and execute decarbonization roadmaps.
- Lead ESG reporting efforts, including sustainability reports and diversity spend tracking.
- Deploy predictive analytics and machine learning to monitor and flag geopolitical, financial, and operational supply chain risks.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, stress tests, and business impact analyses (BIA) to ensure resilience and reduce downtime.
- Develop and maintain business continuity plans (BCP) with defined recovery objectives (RTO/RPO).
- Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to align ESG policies and procurement risk strategies.
- Support ESG data management and external verification processes, including double materiality assessments.
- Monitor ESG trends and regulations and integrate them across procurement and supply chain practices.
- Achieve 2026 ESG targets, including 100% environmental criteria in key contracts and full EcoVadis supplier assessments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Sustainability or related field. MBA or Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, and ESG integration
- Proven track record of implementing sustainability initiatives and risk management frameworks
- Knowhow with Double Materiality Assessment and its application in ESG risk analysis
- Strong analytical skills with experience in predictive analytics and machine learning application
- Experience working cross-functionally and delivering strategic recommendations to leadership
- Up-to-date knowledge of ESG trends, regulations, and reporting standards
- Strategic mindset and flexibility in resolving issues and addressing changing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Due to legal reasons we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary for this position, which is € 60.000 gross per year based on full-time employment. However our salaries are market oriented and in line with your qualifications and experience.
