On Call Industrial Energy Management Expert (Part-Time/Hourly/Remote)
Are you an expert in industrial energy management program development and implementation? We need you. We are seeking an expert who can leverage their experience in leading corporate energy management programs for manufacturers to help identify and pursue new business opportunities and coach industrial energy managers to save energy. This is a remote, on-call role that provides flexibility to work from zero to 30+ hours per week.
What you will be doing:
Working with industrial companies’ energy managers to help them build and/or improve their energy management programs through providing customized advice and directing them to appropriate tools and resources.
Engaging senior leadership in targeted energy-intensive industries to participate in energy efficiency programs and networks.
Evaluating new energy management practices from the engaged companies, identifying companies with best practice examples, and facilitating mentoring relationships between engaged energy managers.
Tracking plant key performance indicators to identify top candidates for intensive technical support.
Supporting the development of new guidance materials, tip sheets, communications materials, and case studies by providing input and technical reviews.
Performing technical assessments and making recommendations to program and project managers to aid in successful achievement of program goals and objectives.
Identifying, evaluating, and helping to pursue new business opportunities for applying similar kinds of industrial energy management services to new client types.
Delivering products reflective of ICF and client standards.
Minimum qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical or scientific discipline.
A minimum of 10 years working in a corporate manufacturing energy management program, and 5 years leading an energy program.
Excellent understanding of corporate energy management program principles.
Proficiency in significant energy-using processes (e.g., motor systems, process heat, compressed air), energy efficiency best practices, and identifying improvement opportunities.
Strong interpersonal communication skills, including comfort with coaching peers.
Passion for saving energy and helping others achieve their energy-reduction goals.
Preferred qualifications:
A master’s degree energy/mechanical/electrical engineering, management, or a related discipline.
15+ years of relevant energy program leadership experience, including mentoring of peer energy managers via energy management networks such as ENERGY STAR®.
Record of recognition from leading energy management organizations; e.g., ENERGY STAR, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Better Plants, Association of Energy Engineers.
Proficiency in using Excel or equivalent for data analysis.
Familiarity with DOE tools including MEASUR and VERIFI.
Familiarity with conducting Energy Treasure Hunts or their functional equivalents in manufacturing plants.
Certified Energy Manager (CEM®), 50001 Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems, Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP), Performance Measurement and Verification Expert (PMVE), or other relevant certifications in the field of energy efficiency for commercial/industrial facilities.
