The Department of Geography and Regional Research is part of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy. It is the largest and oldest Geography department in Austria. The department offers scientific degrees in the bachelor program, in two master programs, in the teacher education program (Bachelor and Master), and in the doctoral program. The position is assigned to the working group Physical Geography, which has a sound reputation in the research domains of landslides, “human impact” on geosystems and spatial modeling of geomorphic processes as well as in the applied research in the thematic areas global environmental change, natural hazards and –risks, vulnerability, multi-hazard risk and early warning systems. The position is embedded at the interface of natural hazards, risk assessment, vulnerability, multi-hazards and risks, early warning systems and disaster management with a focus on work with big data and spatial planning.
