Responsibilities
Representation of the field of Data Science in research and teaching.
Active participation and collaboration within the Department of Statistics, the Faculty of Economics and Statistics, and the research areas “Digital Science” and “Economics, Politics, and Society (EPoS)”.
In teaching, the subject Data Science is to be covered in the relevant study programs of the Faculty at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD level. Of particular importance is the participation in the development, coordination, and implementation of the planned Master's program “Data Science”.
Requirements
- a degree in higher education in Austria or an equivalent qualification from abroad, pertinent to the position;
- pertinent habilitation or comparable qualification (e.g., associate professorship);
- Scientific excellence, demonstrated through publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals;
- Excellent knowledge of probabilistic modeling, statistical inference, and machine learning;
- Excellent programming skills in R and/or Python, demonstrated through published software in recognized repositories and/or journals;
- Experience with real-world applications;
- Proven integration into international research networks;
- International academic mobility;
- Experience in acquiring and managing research funding;
- Relevant teaching experience and demonstrated didactic skills;
- Social competence and leadership qualifications;
- Ability to teach courses in both German and English. (Knowledge of the German language is not required at the time of application, but candidates are expected to acquire sufficient proficiency to teach in German in due course)

- a description of completed, ongoing, and planned research (up to 2 pages) and the five most important academic works;
