EEMCO is a cutting-edge deep-tech spin-off dedicated to revolutionizing Silicon Carbide (SiC) crystal growth. With proprietary capabilities in the production of high-quality 8-inch (200mm) SiC wafers, we aim to transform the performance, economics, and scalability of materials powering the future of power electronics, electric vehicles, and industrial systems.

As we scale from pioneering R&D to industrial-grade mass production, we are seeking a curious, passionate, and empathetic Head of Crystal Growth Research and Product Development to lead the development and productization of our core technology. This is a mission-critical leadership role for an accomplished expert in materials innovation and manufacturing transformation. Someone who not only drives technical excellence but also understands, motivates, and supports a diverse team through collaborative and human-centered leadership.

TASKS

• Technical and Strategic Leadership
• Lead the continued evolution and scaling of EEMCO’s proprietary SiC crystal growth platform, with a focus on optimizing yield, wafer quality, and cost for 8-inch substrates.
• Define and execute a clear roadmap for crystal growth technology development, integrating market needs, cost targets, and technical feasibility.

• Product Development and Industrialization
• Own the end-to-end crystal growth development process—from early-stage R&D through pilot-scale validation and full-scale industrial deployment.
• Drive the productization of crystal growth technology, including specification definition, process qualification, and manufacturing readiness.
• Apply rigorous product development methodologies, integrating design for manufacturability (DfM), data-driven process control, and iterative optimization.

• Team Leadership and Culture
• Demonstrate leadership through action, serving as a role model in accountability, initiative, and collaborative problem-solving. Foster a culture of ownership and mutual support across the team and organization.
• Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and accountability ensuring top-tier talent is recruited, empowered, and retained.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Act as a senior technical liaison to external stakeholders, including academic partners, equipment vendors, strategic customers, and internal manufacturing teams.

PROFILE

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Process Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience in semiconductor materials development, with a strong track record in SiC crystal growth and high-temperature material processing or a MSc with 8+ years of experience
• Demonstrated success in transitioning materials technologies from concept through scale-up to commercial production preferably including 6-inch or 8-inch SiC wafer technologies.
• Deep knowledge of crystal growth mechanisms, thermal and materials modeling, wafer metrology, and semiconductor manufacturing workflows.
• Experience developing and launching engineered materials products in a high-specification, quality-controlled production environment.
• Proven leadership in managing technical teams and delivering cross-functional development milestones on schedule and to spec.
• Strong communication skills and an ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.
• Very good knowledge of German and English

We offer an attractive salary in line with the market, depending on qualifications and professional experience. The minimum gross basic salary according to the collective agreement in trades, crafts, and in the service sector based on full-time employment is 60,913 euros per year.
