Your Role: Own the Challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Global Senior Product Group and R&D Controller to join ABB’s Machine Automation Division (B&R). In this pivotal role, you will contribute to the financial steering of the Machine Automation Division’s global Product Groups and their R&D activities, enabling strategic decision-making and supporting innovation through robust financial analysis and planning. You will collaborate closely with the Global Product Group and R&D Managers, with the aim of acting as a trusted business partner in an international environment.

The work model for the role is: hybrid

This role is contributing to ABB Group's Machine Automation Division globally.

Main stakeholders are the Global Product Group and R&D Controller as well as Product Group Managers and R&D Managers across the division.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Financial Planning and Reporting - Manage and support the preparation of monthly reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning for designated Product Groups and our R&D function, and drive R&D project controlling
  • Business Partnering and Strategic Support - Provide financial insight and support to Product Groups, to prepare business case development and enhance strategic decision-making
  • Performance Management and KPI Development - Develop and monitor R&D-specific financial KPIs, conduct detailed cost analyses, and identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency
  • Process Improvement and Compliance - Drive process enhancements and automation initiatives while ensuring adherence to internal controls, audit requirements, and ABB’s code of conduct.

What it takes to Run what runs the world

  • University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
  • 5-7 years of experience in commercial finance or business controlling in a global context
  • Excellent proficiency in SAP FI/CO/PS, Power BI, and Excel; experienced affinity for digital tools and automation
  • Demonstrated ability to perform financial modeling related to forecasts, budgets and cost optimization, to support strategic decision-making, and to lead project controlling
  • Experienced with stakeholder management and effective interpersonal skills
  • Experience with government funding processes for R&D and intellectual property-related finance is a benefit
  • Effective communication abilities in English, German language skills are considered beneficial

In accordance with the collective agreement for the electrical and electronics industry in Austria, the minimum salary for this position is € 4,341.85 gross per month as of May 2025. There is a clear willingness to offer compensation above the collectively agreed minimum salary, depending on qualifications and experience.
