Job Summary
Danisco Austria GmbH, a subsidiary of International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), is a leading manufacturer of the food additive Xylit. Our site in Lenzing, Austria, is dedicated to producing high-quality Xylit, which is widely used as a sugar substitute due to its beneficial properties.We are seeking a curious and agile Process Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in solving technical challenges and multi level communication, using their knowledge and experience to develop value-creating solutions for our products or production assets.
This role requires an individual who can function independently, initiate and drive programs, and identify necessary resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Expertise:
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and proactively apply the scientific method or engineering design process and statistics across multiple disciplines.
- Define technologies needed to solve complex problems or develop new products/applications and effectively incorporate them into value-added solutions.
- Show insight into emerging technologies and market/application trends to further technical objectives and meet customer or stakeholder needs.
- Business and Market Impact:
- Possess an advanced understanding of work group and business strategy.
- Collaborate with peers in business units to evaluate ideas for business appropriateness and participate in setting work group objectives based on current business needs.
- Recognize the impact of experimental work on business results.
- Intellectual Property and Documentation:
- Monitor competition and market trends relative to IFF's IP positions and integrate this information into group activities and projects.
- Actively seek opportunities to generate IP.
- Develop a track record of documenting work internally and, when appropriate, externally, in a manner consistent with capturing and protecting its value for IFF.
- Communication:
- Deliver presentations or reports that distill complex ideas into clear results and proposals for varied audiences.
- Lead in documenting research results in appropriate formats.
- Use communication effectively to influence internal and external audiences.
- Collaborative Leadership:
- Lead projects of limited size and scope, functioning independently in technical expertise and defining scope and deliverables broadly.
- Promote collaborative efforts with peers, subordinates, supervisors, and team members.
- Leverage external networks for project success and engage regularly in appropriate scientific/professional communities.
- Train and provide developmental coaching to peers in related functions beyond the work group.
- Persuade and influence the team, beginning to serve as a mentor to peers.
- IFF Culture, Ethics, and EH&S:
- Continuously seek ways to improve safety beyond the work group based on knowledge of potential safety issues or concerns in their area of technical expertise.
Qualifications:
- Proven expertise in multiple technology areas or applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve conflicting demands to achieve program goals and objectives.
- Recognized as a technology SME within the business/work group.
- Excellent communication and collaborative leadership skills.
