The Department at the University of Vienna is the largest academic center covering all fields relating to the German language and German-language literatures. The core areas are Modern German Literature, Medieval German Language and Literature, Germanic Linguistic, German as a Foreign and Second Language, and German Teaching Methodology. In addition, the areas of Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, Media Theory, Literary Theory, and Literature for Children and Young Adults are well established. More than 5000 students are enrolled
Your personal sphere of influence:
As a university assistant , you will have the opportunity to work at one of the largest departments of German Philology worldwide consisting of an inspiring group of people dedicated to a manifold range of research and academic teaching.
The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
A dissertation project in the field of german didactics with one of the following focal points is expected: language didactics, literature didactics and media didactics Germa- n Participation in research projects in the above-mentioned subject area
- s The successful candidate is expected to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 month
- s Independent teaching of introductory and literary courses according to the collective agreemen
