Join RNIB’s Enterprises Team and help us make a difference for people with sight loss through our innovative commercial activities.
We're seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Planning and Performance to be instrumental in shaping the future success of our Enterprises unit. This is a unique opportunity to directly influence the direction and performance of a vital part of a leading charity in delivering both income to the charity and impact to our clients and customer through the services we deliver.
About the Role:
As the Head of Planning and Performance for RNIB Enterprises, you'll be a key partner in the Enterprise Leadership Team, leading the implementation of performance frameworks and strategic planning processes to drive continuous improvement
Your expertise will be vital in optimising processes, setting clear, aligned objectives, and rigorously tracking performance against key indicators. You'll proactively identify opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness, leading initiatives that enhance the overall health and impact of our Enterprises group, while collaborating seamlessly with central functions across the wider charity.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Vision & Objective Setting: Partner with the Enterprise SLT to define and articulate strategic objectives for RNIB Enterprises, ensuring they align with our broader organisational mission. You'll develop and implement frameworks like OKRs to cascade goals throughout the unit and facilitate strategic planning sessions.
Performance Leadership & Reporting: Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive performance measurement framework, including identifying and tracking KPIs across all functions. You'll establish regular reporting mechanisms and dashboards, providing clear, timely, and actionable insights to the SLT and stakeholders. You'll analyse performance data, identify trends, anticipate challenges, and recommend strategic adjustments.
Process Optimisation & Continuous Improvement: Conduct in-depth analysis of existing operational processes within Enterprises to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks. You'll lead and manage process re-engineering and optimisation projects, designing and implementing more efficient workflows. Crucially, you'll champion a culture of continuous improvement, promoting best practices and facilitating knowledge sharing.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Act as a key interface between the Enterprises unit and central functions (e.g., Finance, HR, IT), ensuring seamless integration of processes, data, and reporting. You'll collaborate with departmental heads to support their performance measurement and improvement initiatives.
What You'll Bring:
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven Leadership: Extensive experience in performance management, strategic planning, and operational excellence within a commercial environment.
Performance Framework Expertise: Demonstrated ability to design and implement robust performance measurement frameworks, including objective setting (e.g., OKRs), KPI development, and in-depth data analysis.
Influential Stakeholder Management: A track record of driving change and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority, coupled with exceptional collaboration and influencing skills across all organisational levels.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Acumen: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex issues and develop practical, data-driven solutions.
Strategic Thinking: A strategic mindset, capable of identifying systemic issues and conceptualising innovative solutions for performance enhancement within a unique organisational context.
Exceptional Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences, present compelling business cases, and facilitate consensus-building.
